I am a grateful but uninvited guest on the unceded, stolen territories of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations, and the land of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relations with the land continue to this day. I acknowledge that my presence here continues to disrupt and displace Indigenous peoples through systemic colonial violence. I am committed to understanding, listening and practicing ways in which we can continue forward in a good way.
